Characters
“Damien” (aka The Vandal) - troubled teen whose favorite past time is giving forgotten alleyway walls new life. He’s punk, a bit crazy, a skater boy, pathological liar, player, and might be hiding a bigger secret than first appears.
“Koron” (aka “The Officer”) - Quiet, analytical type who mostly keeps to himself and does his job. But occasionally he takes special interests in his cases. The two have met.
Animatic
The story started out as rough thumbnails which were turned into beat boards, then a script to create the storyboard (plus rough sound)! This was a pantomime assignment so I substituted sound effects for voices.
Backgrounds were roughed, characters adapted as I developed a shorthand for them, and all was set to animate!

Animating this film taught me so much about planning, animating body mechanics, and compositing. I had a lot of fun assembling the sound, playing with colors, and creating the dramatic finish.
I believe the things that were most effective in the film were the ones I had fun with. If I could change one thing it would be the run through the alley - it needs more frames :) Overall, I enjoyed the process and I do hope you enjoy the show.
This bit is an on-going project that I’ve created as various illustrations, comics, and now an animation, I’d love to re-create it one day! I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Damien and the officer…
